Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment

Buddy Love Dog Rescue believes that every person — regardless of disability, assistive technology, or browsing environment — should be able to learn about our dogs, apply to adopt or foster, and support our mission. Accessibility is not an afterthought for us. It is part of how we build and maintain this website.

We are a volunteer-run nonprofit and our resources are limited, but we take accessibility seriously and address issues as quickly as we are able. This statement describes where we are today, what we know needs improvement, and how to reach us if something is not working for you.

2. Standards we follow

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the most widely recognized standard for web accessibility and the benchmark referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for digital content.

4. Known limitations

We are transparent about areas where we know accessibility is not yet complete. We are working to address each of the following:

• Third-party embeds: Our donation forms are hosted by Zeffy, and our adoption and foster application forms are powered by PawPlacer. The accessibility of those embedded experiences is governed by those platforms, not by us. We have no direct control over their form widgets and encourage users who encounter barriers to contact us for an alternative path.
• Some older dog photos: Photos submitted by our volunteer fosters may not always include detailed descriptions. We are working to improve alt text coverage across all dog profiles.
• Video captions: The background videos used on our pages are decorative and do not convey information. They contain no speech or meaningful audio. No captions are currently provided for these clips.
• PDF documents: Any PDFs linked from this website may not be fully accessible to screen readers. If you need an accessible version of any document, please contact us and we will provide the information in an alternative format.

5. Assistive technology support

This website has been built and tested with the following assistive technologies in mind:

• Screen readers including VoiceOver (macOS and iOS) and NVDA (Windows)
• Keyboard-only navigation
• Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
• High contrast mode on Windows and macOS
• Mobile screen readers including TalkBack (Android)

We test primarily with Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. If you experience issues in a specific browser or assistive technology combination, please let us know which combination so we can investigate.

6. Report an issue

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our website, we want to hear about it. To help us understand and fix the issue quickly, please include in your message:

• The page or URL where you encountered the problem
• A description of what you were trying to do and what happened instead
• The assistive technology or browser you were using, if known

We aim to respond to accessibility reports within 5 business days and to resolve verified issues as quickly as our volunteer capacity allows.

If any part of this website is inaccessible to you and you need information or assistance, we are happy to help by other means. You can:

• Reach out through our contact form and request assistance with an adoption or foster application
• Message us on Facebook where our team actively monitors messages

No one should be unable to learn about our dogs or apply to help them because of an accessibility barrier on our website. If something is not working, contact us and we will find another way.

8. Formal complaints

We are committed to resolving accessibility concerns informally and directly. If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility complaint, you may wish to contact the following organizations:

• W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) — resources and guidance on web accessibility standards
