Each dog’s adoption fee is set individually and helps cover the cost of their veterinary care, fostering, and preparation for their forever home. Contact us to learn the fee for a specific dog.

Adopting is a lifelong commitment
We want every adoption to be a forever home. Here is what we ask from every adopter.
A safe, loving home
Your dog will live indoors as a full family member, not outdoors or in a kennel.
Ongoing veterinary care
Annual checkups, vaccinations, and care when needed. Your dog’s health is your responsibility.
Return to us if needed
If your situation ever changes and you can no longer keep your dog, you agree to return them to Buddy Love rather than rehoming privately.
Patience and grace
Rescue dogs may need time to adjust to their new home. We ask for your patience and commitment during the transition period.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the adoption process take?
The process typically takes one to two weeks from application to bringing your dog home. This allows us time to review your application thoroughly, check references, complete a home visit, and arrange a meet and greet. We never rush. The right match is worth taking the time to get right.
Can I adopt if I rent my home?
Yes, many of our adopters rent. We will ask you to provide proof that your landlord permits dogs, and we may reach out to confirm. If you are unsure whether your lease allows pets, please check before applying to avoid delays.
Do I need a fenced yard?
It depends on the dog. Some of our dogs specifically require a fenced yard due to their energy level or history. Each dog’s profile clearly notes whether a fence is required. Many of our dogs are perfectly happy in apartment or non-fenced settings with regular walks and exercise.
What if I already have pets at home?
Many of our dogs do great with other animals and each dog’s profile notes their compatibility with other dogs, cats, and children. If you have existing pets, we will arrange a meet and greet before finalizing the adoption to make sure everyone gets along.
What if the adoption is not working out?
We are here for you. Please reach out to us first. Many challenges in the first few weeks are completely normal and we have resources and experience to help. If the situation truly cannot work, we ask that you return the dog to Buddy Love rather than rehoming privately. We will never judge you for reaching out.
Do you adopt out of state?
Some of our dogs are available for out-of-state adoption and is noted on each dog’s individual profile. Out-of-state adoptions may require additional steps including a virtual home visit and transport arrangements. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.
